Mike Shoreman

This summer Durham Region’s Mike Shoreman became the third athlete in history and the first person with disabilities to cross each of the 5 Great Lakes. At times taking up to 29 consecutive hours with mobility, hearing, and vision challenges showing all of us that anything is possible with hard work and determination. Mike has raised close to $100,000 this year and continues to grow- for young Canadians through his efforts to help put mental health programs in schools. His disabilities haven’t hindered him since developing them a few years ago but have fuelled him and motivated him to work harder. He built a team of 43 people to execute his mission and partnered with community-based organizations, municipalities and Regions across Ontario, businesses and corporations and Government across the country who supported the vision that no child should feel alone and hopeless. His recent efforts have been recognized across the province, and Canada by federal Members of Parliament and the Prime Ministers’ office.
