Master of Ceremonies

Terry Johnston

Terry Johnston is the voice of our community with CKDO radio since 1992, the voice of the Oshawa Generals since 2007 and emcees about 125 events per year.

He works with countless local charities including Grandview Children’s Foundation, Epilepsy Durham, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, The Canadian Cancer Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Charles H Best Diabetes Centre, MADD Durham, The United Way, and The Kids Safety Village.

Terry has received awards from the Ontario Association of Broadcasters for his work in the Community, 2-time Rotary Club Paul Harris Fellowship, 2012 Queen’s Jubilee recipient and in 2020 was honoured as the Peter Perry Award winner as Whitby’s Citizen of the Year.

With Curtis (21) at Carleton University and Ethan (18) at Durham College, Terry and Susan still both find time to play adult hockey and play on 2 slo-pitch ball teams.

In 2018 he was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome and had to teach himself how to walk again. Fast forward to 2022 and he’s become the first person with a disability to cross all 5 Great Lakes in one year on a paddle board.
